ABOUT OAKLAND CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL.

Bishop Donald Wuerl established Oakland Catholic High School in 1989 upon the closing of St. Paul Cathedral High School and Sacred Heart High School, two parish schools with long histories of educating Pittsburgh’s young women in the Catholic tradition to serve as a sister school for Central Catholic.

Oakland Catholic High School is a private Roman Catholic college preparatory school for girls located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, within the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Nearly 600 students enroll at Oakland Catholic, and the school attracts female students from all over the City of Pittsburgh and the suburbs. One hundred percent of its students continue to a four-year university upon graduation.

Oakland Catholic High School has proceeded with this tradition as the region’s first and only all-girls diocesan high school, giving a powerful foundation in the pillars of spirituality, scholarship, and service for decades.

Since its inception, the Oakland Catholic High School campus has improved dramatically, following a trajectory related to the school it houses: continuously expanding while strengthening its roots.

Integrating a strict academic program within a faith-based, value-focused community empowers the young women of Oakland Catholic with the challenges and support essential to become competent, moral, universal future leaders.
