  • Be in good academic standing with the department and College of Science.
  • Be citizens/permanent residents of the United States.

The Herbert and Mary Lee Wiist Texas Rural High School Scholarship

This scholarship is created to support students enrolled full-time in any major within the College of Science, prioritizing graduates of Petrolia High School or those from high school graduating classes of fewer than 100 people.

Graduates of Pretoria High school in the College of science are eligible for this scholarship.

Frank C. Spencer Rural Student Scholarship

Frank C. Spencer Rural Student Scholarship is established to support undergraduate, and graduate students enrolled in a degree program within the College of Science who demonstrate financial need. Students from any “highly rural” county in Texas are preferred. Still, if no applicant meets these criteria, any student who graduated from a Texas public high school outside of the DFW metroplex is eligible.

Graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in a degree program within the College of Science who have demonstrated academic promise are eligible for this scholarship.

Applicants must:

  • Meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the College of Science and the Toulouse Graduate School, in effect, at any award.
  • Maintain full-time enrollment as established by the University unless the student is nearing completion of their degree program and does not need full-time enrollment.
  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Science with an emphasis in Environmental Science or a graduate student in Toulouse Graduate School, Environmental Science program at the University.

Graduate students in either Biology, Chemistry, math, or Physics are eligible.
