About Mike Rowe

Mike Rowe has been an advocate for trade schools ever since he went into a “dirty job” in every state in his show “Dirty Jobs.” 

Rowe worked with all sorts of skilled trade laborers such as plumbers, electricians, steamfitters, pipefitters, bricklayers, farmers, fishers, and many others in the show. 

Because of his experiences, he realized that trade workers weren’t what he thought. On the

As a result of this, he has made it his mission to redefine this for the nation and he is working towards this through the Mike Rowe Work Ethic Scholarship.

About Mike Rowe Work Ethic Scholarship program

The Mike Rowe Scholarship Program recognizes people who understand the importance of work ethic, personal responsibility, delayed gratification, and a positive attitude.

The Mike Rowe Scholarship is available for high school seniors, high school graduates, or those who have acquired a GED and are aspiring to start a career in a skilled trade.


Mike Rowe Scholarship Worth

The Mike Rowe Works Foundation has compiled a large amount of money to award to multiple different students from across the country. 

Mike Rowe’s foundation has raised over $400,000 to be awarded as educational scholarships. 

The award amount will vary from each recipient as it all depends on the student’s financial need and the price of their vocational education.


Host Nationality

The Mike Rowe Scholarship is hosted by the Mike Rowe work foundation in the United States. 


Eligible Nationality

Citizens and permanent residents of the United States are eligible for the scholarship. 



The scholarship is available for high school seniors and Junior who wish to further their education in skill and vocational careers. 


Eligibility requirements

To qualify for Mike Rowe Works Foundation’s Work Ethic Scholarship, applicants must: 

  • Be enrolled or enrolling in an approved program by the Foundation
  • Read and sign the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge the Mike Rowe champions


Application process and  requirements

Applicants are to: 

  • Submit  high school or college transcript
  • Provide financial situation
  • Prove your school costs
  • Create a short video
  • Write answers to 3 different questions from the foundation.
  • Complete a short essay on the topic defined in the Mike Rowe Scholarship Application
  • Provide 2 or more references from teachers/bosses

Application deadline

The deadline for submission of the application is April 14, 2022. 



Mike Rowe has made available a Scholarship program from the Mike Rowe Work Ethic Foundation named the Mike Rowe Scholarship to help high school students who wish to pursue a career in skilled and vocational training. 

To qualify for this scholarship,  applicants must be enrolled in an approved program, Sign the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge, answer 4 questions about the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge, make a video, provide  2 solid references from a teacher or boss, provide a high school or college transcript.

Submit your most recent 1040 tax form.

All applicants are expected to have completed and submitted the application process on or before the deadline to be considered for the scholarship
